Nose Surgery

Nose SurgeryThe shape, size, and overall look of our noses affect our appearance dramatically. It is, after all, the center and one of the most defining characteristics of our face. Slight size and shape alterations of the nose greatly influence the harmony of the rest of our facial features. Rhinoplasty (the "nose job") is a procedure used by Dr. Paik to create a well-proportioned, natural nose that accentuates the inherent beauty of your face. At times, other factors (such as chin projection) may likewise be considered in order to fully balance the facial features. The strictest safety standards and your individual needs and desires are of primary concern in our rhinoplasty procedures.

The Details of Rhinoplasty

The rhinoplasty (nose job) procedure can take several different forms, depending on your individual needs. The majority of incisions are invisible, made inside the nose itself. For some, an incision may be made in the skin separating the nostrils. After the initial incision, Dr. Paik lifts the skin in order to manipulate the nasal cartilage and bone into a proportionate, well-defined, and complementary shape, before re-draping the skin over the newly created framework and closing the incision. A nose splint may then be applied to maintain the new shape while the body's natural healing process takes over. During this time, soft materials may also be applied inside the nose in order to expand the air passage and support the new structure. Expert certified anesthesiologists administer general anesthesia or deep sedation in order to keep you comfortable and safe during the rhinoplasty procedure.

After Rhinoplasty Surgery

Aside from the supporting splint and possibly absorbable sutures used to close your incisions, no packing is used in the nose itself. A week following your procedure, your splints will be removed, and further healing instruction provided by your surgeon. In order to ensure the quickest healing possible, the patient should refrain from blowing their nose following the surgery, keep their head elevated, and follow any further instructions given by the physician.

*Please note: Dr. Paik does not perform revision surgery on other surgeons' rhinoplasties.
